Finding Aid & Inventory

The University Registrar office manages student enrollment, status, and course schedules. Prior to University administrative rearrangement in the middle of the twentieth century, the Registrar was involved in student and university finances and donations to the University in addition to courses and student grades. Materials in this collection include administrative annual reports, course registration booklets, diplomas, finance ledgers and reports, enrollment and demographic reports, and summer school bulletins and course materials. A small number of materials related to graduate schools are also included.

Biographical and Historical Note

The University Registrar office manages student enrollment, status, and course schedules. Prior to University administrative rearrangement in the middle of the twentieth century, the Registrar was involved in student and university finances and donations to the University in addition to courses and student grades.

As of 2015, the Office of the University Registrar serves the WFU academic community and reports to the Provost. The office's mission statement states "Our principal responsibility is to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of student academic records/data and to provide various record services."

Collection Overview

These records document the work of the Registrar's Office at Wake Forest University. Since Registrar duties were once much broader than they are at present, the records that document these duties are diverse. Materials in this collection include annual reports from the Registrar, the president, and other sources; course registration booklets; diplomas; endowment and fundraising ledgers, notes, and related records; enrollment and demographic statistical reports; financial reports; and summer school bulletins and course materials. A small number of materials related to graduate schools are also included.

This collection is organized into four series: 1. Course-related materials; 2. Financial materials; 3. Publications; and 4. Reports, statistics, and subject files.
