Wake Forest University was started in February 1834 as Wake Forest Manual Labor Institute and became Wake Forest College under the guidance of its first president Samuel Wait; in 1950, the institution moved to Winston-Salem, N.C. This collection contains portraits of WFU professors and administrators from around the 1950s and 1960s.

Biographical and Historical Note
Wake Forest University was started in February 1834 as Wake Forest Manual Labor Institute and became Wake Forest College under the guidance of its first president Samuel Wait. In 1950, then-College President Harold W. Tribble broke ground on the Winston-Salem campus, also known as the Reynolda campus, established with a land donation from Charles H. Babcock and Mary Reynolds Babcock.
