Eva Pearce Clontz received her B.A. (1964) from Wake Forest University, and married Joe Clontz in 1965. Before moving to Chapel Hill in 1971, she taught English at Western Carolina University where Joe was the Baptist Campus Minister. She and Joe traveled together on missions to Nicaragua (1964) and Togo, West Africa (1981-1982).She later worked for UNC-Chapel Hill where she was the Program Coordinator for the Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology (SPICE). This oral history interview includes memories of growing up and coming to Wake Forest, involvement with the Baptist Student Union and their various activities, such as the African Student Program and Youth Evangelism Team. Clontz shares about the dating culture of Wake Forest, early experiences with feminism, and international mission work after her marriage.
