- Robert Mills received his B.A. (1971) in History and his M.B.A. (1980) from Wake Forest University. Mills joined Wake Forest's fund-raising staff in 1972 as assistant to the director of development. He was promoted to director of alumni activities in 1978 and assistant vice president for university relations in 1986. From 1989 to 1995, Mills directed the university's Heritage and Promise capital campaign and was promoted to associate vice president in University Advancement in 1997. He retired in 2013. In this oral history interview Bob shares his memories as a Wake Forest student and the early days of joining what eventually became the Advancement office. He discusses the cultural aspect of the office and WFU campus, his memories of Presidents Scales, Hearn, and Hatch, and early efforts at computerization.
