description
Byrd Barnette Tribble, born and raised in Winston-Salem, graduated from R. J. Reynolds High School in 1950. She received a B. A. degree in English and History with summa cum laude honors and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa from Wake Forest College (Wake Forest, NC). She holds a M. A. degree from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida, where she and her husband, James Emery Tribble, and their three children, Evelyn, Mary, and Lewis, Deacs all, lived many years. This oral history interview includes Tribble's memories of growing up in Winston-Salem, choosing and attending Wake Forest, and life with her husband and family afterwards. Of special interest are her descriptions of the campus culture on the old campus, classes she took, and her long-time family connections (via the Tribble and Wait families) with the college.
