- G. William (Bill) Joyner was born in Asheboro, NC, and graduated from Wake Forest University with a B.A. (1966) in English. He played basketball for the Demon Deacons and joined the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He completed an M.A. at Wake Forest, also in English, and taught for a year at Appalachian State. He was hired by the Alumni/Development Office and worked closely with Presidents Tribble, Scales, and Hearn.
