Collection Overview

This volume contains the General Catalogue of Wake Forest College, North Carolina, 1834-1835 to 1891-1892, printed in 1892 by Edwards and Broughton, Power Printers and Binders. The original text contains lists of College trustees and professors and tutors. These entries also note, with a Greek letter, the student's literary society membership if they were in one. The book's printed pages are interleaved with blank pages, which Taylor and possibly other presidents and administrators used to note students who earned degrees up to at least 1918; three or more handwriting scripts appear in the book's pages. Some post-1892 classes are listed in their entirety by graduating year, while other students are just added to the printed alphabetical directory. The lists may not be exhaustive. The volume is in delicate condition, and the first set of pages are are detached from the binding. A handwritten note inside the front cover reads "Never to be removed from President's Office, Wake Forest College. November 7, 1895."
