Kit Rodenbough is the owner of Design Archives, a local antique and vintage retail seller. She has owned the business for 20 years, which branches in Greensboro and Winston-Salem. In this interview, Rodenbough discusses the quick and unexpected shut down of her stores due to COVID-19 and the financial worries that her business experienced as a result. She shares how she quickly began filling out grant and loan applications, then how some of the money that she recieved was not organized well for retail organizations. Originally intending to retire within the next year, she expresses frustration, then excitement, about the pandemic causing her business to rely on online methods. Rodenbough explains how some of her vendors, such as those that sell souvenirs, have been affected more by closures and social distancing precautions than others and shares how she has felt supported by the retail community in Greensboro and her group of vendors and the city in Winston-Salem.
