description
Latasha Barr is the Co-Founder and COO of Cam's Coffee Company, a social enterprise business with the mission to provide employment opportunities for those who are differently abled or who have disabilities. Before the COVID-19 outbreak, Cam's Coffee operated primarily through its retail storefront and secondarily through its website and shipping methods. However, since COVID-19 places a large threat to the 80% of employees who are considered to be "at risk," Barr and her 11 year old son and the CEO, Cam, decided to close the brick and mortar store and do not plan to reopen it. Instead, they are restructuring the business in response to COVID-19. During the quarantine period of COVID-19, the company has been relying solely on online orders and Barr predicts that in the future, they will continue to focus primarily on their online shop, and secondarily on one in-person. Barr describes how the core of Cam's Coffee is a belief in equity and inclusion for all groups and she shares how she has lost some personal and professional connections through the recent racial justice movement because she and Cam's Coffee has decided to not do business with those that don't share that belief. She describes the large role that her son has in the business and shares her unique role as someone that supports him both professionally and as a mother.
