- Reverend Virginia (Ginny) Wilder is a leader at St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In this interview, she speaks about the inclusivity of her church and how she hopes that everyone who enters will "experience the deep abiding love of Christ." She describes how the church has moved into online formats since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak and how her backgrounds in technology and music have positioned her well for this challenge. She shares how pastoral care visits are one aspect of her job that she has lost during the quarantine, but is positive about the increase in attention that the prayer list has recieved from the congregation. Wilder speaks about her perspective on the Black Lives Matter movement and how St. Anne's works, as an organization and individually, to fight injustice and strive towards equality. She shares how she values a diverse community, as she sees it as an opportunity for people to piece together their experiences and perspectives to better understand God, and how she is learning to advocate better for people of color in Winston-Salem. Wilder explains that, since the U.S. has "short-changed people of color at every turn," systemic racism and inequality can only be fixed through a sustained effort to completely reconfigure those discriminatory systems.
