Biographical and Historical Note
The Wake Forest Missionary Society was a local Baptist organization that supported missions work. According to a 1945 Biblical Recorder article by Arthur R. Gallimore, "Wake Forest College and Missions," the Wake Forest Missionary Society was created in the years after the Civil War and continued "for fifty years or more"; it is mentioned in the Recorder through 1933. Members included local church attendees, college students, and community members. Members paid a small fee "of at least five cents" according to Gallimore.
Members who contribute to the book's minutes include E. W. Sikes, W. W. Barnes, Elliot Earnshaw, Theodore B. Davis, E. A. Turner, and J. Lanier; some of these names may mis-transcribed.
