Doris Burdick was the daughter of the artist Horace Robbins Burdick and an artist herself, specializing in silhouettes. This collection contains around 100 cabinet cards. Roughly 27 images are of buildings, sculptures, and other European sightseeing objects from Italy, Austria, France, and possibly other countries. The rest of the images, roughly 65, are of women and a few men, posing in studios.

Biographical and Historical Note

Doris Burdick was born in 1898, the daughter of the artist Horace Robbins Burdick, an active member of the Boston Art Club. Doris Burdick specialized in silhouettes. She passed away in 1981.

Collection Overview

This collection contains around 100 cabinet cards. Roughly 27 images are of buildings, sculptures, and other European sightseeing objects from Italy, Austria, France, and possibly other countries. The rest of the images, roughly 65, are of women and a few men, posing in studios. All subjects appear to be white. The women are most likely opera singers or actors. Some images have a small amount of information about the publisher on the reverse side, and one has a second picture on its reverse. Most of the cards' notes are in English, but some are in German or Italian.
