- description
- Black and white photograph shows a Black man, the son of Rosa Hughes France and Sammy France, possibly named Sam, stepping into a store in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is wearing a suit with a white coat and though details of his face are blurred from motion, he is smiling at the camera. The store has an open glass door with dozens of advertisements plastered in the window and a sign that says "Candy" above his head. The back of the image reads "To My Sweet Mother Mrs. Rosa France," and "621 5th St, Milwaukee, Wis," in faint cursive. Above reads, "Rose France Son" in blue inked cursive.
