- description
- Black and white image shows Walt and Tenner Joyce Hughes, a married couple, sitting in chairs next to each other with their hands folded in their lap. Walt is wearing a suit with a buttoned-up white collared shirt with his legs crossed. Tenner is wearing what appears to be a dark buttoned-up shirt with a patterned neck scarf and a dark skirt that covers her feet. There is a tree behind them. The image is faded and the bottom left corner of the material its mounted on is torn. The backside of the image has an ink stamp from National Art & Crayon Co. with blank lines to be filled-in by hand. There are different manuscript types on the backside. One reads "Mr. R.E. Hugh [sic], Westfield, N.C."; another fills in the stamped lines "Dep't: 4383-3" and "Flat: Flat"; another names those shown in the image, "Walter Hughes & wife Tenner Joyce Hughes"; the final is "1818" written in graphite, likely denoting the year the image was taken.
