- abstract
- These documents contain data used to model variation in Nazca booby bite force by age, sex, and morphological measurements (Rebol & Anderson, in review, Biology Letters 2021). These data are organized in an Excel workbook, “Rebol_Anderson_Data”. Analyses using these datasets are described by the manuscript and include looking at the effects of age, sex, and morphology on bite force within the top 50% of maximum bite force samples among our target age groups (labelled in the Excel file as “Effects of age, sex, and morphology on bite force - Top 50%”), looking at these same effects within all maximum bite force samples of all age groups (“Effects of age, sex, and morphology on bite force - All birds”), the effects of age on maximum bite force in males in the old age group (“Effects of age on bite force within Old Males”), and a PCA analysis that allowed us to include multiple morphological measurements in our examination (“PCA Analysis”). Descriptions of the coding (R files), data, and variable definitions are included. Data collection was supported primarily by the National Science Foundation under Grant Nos. DEB 1354473 to David J. Anderson.
