Finding Aid & Inventory

Kenneth A. Zick served as the Vice President of Student Life and Instructional Resources from 1988-2013. This collection includes Zick's administrative materials, especially for the expansion of the ZSR Library in 1991. Other materials include a Book of the Days from 1999, Commission on the Status of Women reports and notes, and a sexual misconduct policy and protocol packet from 2000-2001.

Biographical and Historical Note

Kenneth "Ken" A. Zick was born September 3, 1949. He received a B.A. from Albion College in 1971, a J.D. from Wayne State University in 1974 and, an M.A.L.S. from University of Michigan in 1975 before working at Wake Forest University. He served as director of the Law Library (1977-1983) before becoming the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in 1984. He then became the Vice President and Dean of Student Life and Instructional Resources in 1988, serving until his resignation in 2013. Dr. Penny Rue, his predecessor, joined WFU in a new version of the role, Vice President of Campus Life. Concurrently throughout his administrative career at WFU, Zick taught in the Law School.

Zick was married to Pamela Kirby Zick. Zick's, a restaurant on Hearn Plaza, was named and dedicated to his longtime service to Wake Forest student life.

Collection Overview

This collection contains some administrative materials, especially related to the expansion of the ZSR Library in 1991. These materials include consultation resources, studies of libraries on other college campuses, and architectural correspondence and planning materials. Other materials include a Book of the Days from 1999, Commission on the Status of Women reports and notes, and a sexual misconduct policy and protocol packet from 2000-2001.
