Description
John Bivins (1940-2001) strikes a comically serious pose at release party for his book "The Furniture of Coastal North Carolina." Bivins was a noted author, gunsmith, and scholar. In addition to his contributions for Old Salem in the late 1960s and early 1970s, he was instrumental in the development of the collection and publications program at the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA) at Old Salem from 1980 until his death in 2001.
