Description

Dr. Ruth O’Neal, emeritus professor of pediatrics, exams an unidentified child at Reynolds Health Center. Dr. O’Neal was appointed to Bowman Gray School of Medicine faculty in 1969. Before that, she had practiced pediatrics in Winston-Salem for 20 years and served part-time on the faculty. From 1973-1976, she served as Director of Pediatrics at Reynolds Health Center and as an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at BGSM. She was named to emeritus status in 1985 but continued to teach until her death in 1990. Dr. O’Neal was a founding member of the BGSM child abuse team and the Battered Women’s Shelter of Forsyth County.
