Dixson is captured in profile, facing left, wearing a military-style uniform that includes a broad-brimmed hat and boots. He carries a rifle slung over his right shoulder and stands in a grassy field. Behind him, leafless trees and a large two-story farmhouse with a porch suggest a late fall or winter setting. Dixson was born in 1898.
