Effect of beta radiation dose distribution on the expression of epidermal necrosis and radiation-induced vasculature changes
Abstract
Exposure to high doses of radiation has always been a concern in the event of large- and small-scale radiation-related incidents occurring in the clinical, industrial and research settings. One of the potential effects of such radiation exposure is cutaneous radiation injury (CRI). CRI skin responses depend on the amount of radiation dose, with symptoms ranging from mild irritation and discoloration to desquamation, ulceration, atrophy, and severe necrosis. Finding a way to alleviate the symptoms of CRI is of utmost importance in case of such incidents.
