Description
Miss Nola Reed, first secretary to Dr. Coy Carpenter and Bursar of Bowman Gray School of Medicine, is shown here with a check from the Carnegie Corporation of New York for $15,000 awarded on June 5, 1941. The Medical School had received a grant from the Corporation to establish a medical genetics department. The department was one of the first medical genetics departments in the country and was lead by Dr. William Allan.
