Description
Dr. Robert Cordell joined the faculty at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in 1957 as Director of Surgical Research and as Instructor in Surgery. Cordell's specialty was cardiothoracic surgery and he received many honors for his significant contributions in reducing disability and death due to cardiovascular disease and stroke. Dr. Cordell's title before retiring in 1994 was Professor and Chief of Surgical Sciences- Cardiothoracic Surgery and Associate in Physiology and Pharmacology. Dr. Cordell died in 2008.
