Abstract
Although
initial research has found evidence for the
importance and benefits of
intellectual humility
(IH),
limited work has been done on
developing and evaluatin
g
interventions aimed at increasing
IH
. The present research aim
ed
to develop
and evaluate
intervention
s
to promote
IH
among
a
student
sample
. Participants were placed in one of
four conditions; factual writing, prospective writing, self
-
distancing, and a control
condition. The effectiveness of each condition on each of four dependent variables
–
intellectual humility, tolerance, wisdom and wel
l
-
being
-
was assessed.
However,
no
significant differences
existed
between groups on the dependent variables.
Limitations
and future research directions are addressed.
