Daniel, William (audio interview and transcript)

Abstract

Description

Dr. William "Will" Daniel graduated from Wake Forest in 2008, majoring in Political Science and French. Coming to college during a Presidential Election year was a unique experience and Daniel credis it with galvanizing his interest in poltics and showing him the two "camps" of Wake Forest students. Throughout much of his time Daniel describes feeling like he was in the middle of these two ideological camps on campus. As a President Scholar in Voice and a Poteat Scholar, Daniel felt he embodied two different groups on campus -- the arts scene and the religious opportunities. As a result, he decdied to join Chi Rho, a men's a capella Christian group, but left the group due to some members being affiliated with Exodus International. He was an active members of the Gay Straight Student Alliance (GSSA) all four years. Faculty and staff members like Mary Gerardy, Hu Womack, Becky Hartsog, Sarah Watts were instrumental in making Daniel feel at home on campus and helping him grow academically.
