Abstract

Description

The North Carolina Baptist Hospital's Out-Patient Department opened a Hearing and Speech Center in 1956. Services included voice retraining for patients who had one or more vocal cords removed, speech therapy, and hearting tests. To obtain proper sound-proofing for this center, a special room with walls 15 inches thick was constructed. The walls consist of three sub-walls separated by two air spaces. The persons in this photo are not identified.
