A Way to Water

Abstract

The completion of an original creation, a novel titled <italic>A Way to Water</italic>, and a contextual analysis of the four novels that informed the creation of the novel--<italic>Frankenstein</italic>, <italic>The Street</italic>, <italic>Native Speaker,</italic>, and <italic>To the Lighthouse</italic>--fulfills the requirements for a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies. The novel created reflects the exploration of self and place, as the protagonist, a recent college graduate and Southerner, journeys across the United States. Her journey embodies the core of the Liberal Studies program--to explore human ideas and values--through her exposure to people who challenge and reinforce her personal beliefs, as well as her understanding of the world.
