| dc.description | In what is believed to be their home, Egbert Davis, Jr. and his wife, Eleanor Layfield Davis, pose for the camera in this undated photograph. The Davis family has been instrumental in the development of Winston-Salem. Mr. Egbert Davis, Sr., was the first chairman of the board of North Carolina Baptist Hospital. Davis Memorial Chapel at NCBH was built in honor of Egbert Jr.’s mother, Mrs. Annie Pearl Davis. Egbert, Jr. was President of Goodwill Industries and Atlas Supply Company. He died in 2006 at the age of 95. | en_US |
