Abstract
Description
This view of Salem's Cedar Avenue, looking north, captures the removal of the old cedar trees preparing to replace them with new ones in 1918. The older trees had become covered with soot from the nearby railroad and the pollution was causing their decline in health. An unidentified man is in the foreground to the right.
