Abstract

Photo from pre-1945

Description

In the early years of medicine, it was not unusual for medical students to practice procedures such as gastric analysis, IV insertion and other procedures on each other. Shown (standing) is James F. O’Neill and (lying down) Phillip B. Hardymon. Both are graduates and are listed in the 1945 yearbook as faculty members of Bowman Gray School of Medicine. Dr. O’Neill was Assistant Professor of Surgery and Dr. Hardymon was Instructor in Surgery.
