Kami Chavis is a former faculty member and Vice Provost at Wake Forest University. Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Chavis received her Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy Analysis from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1996, and her Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in 1999. Chavis discusses her background, academic interests, and legal career during the oral history interview. She also highlights examples of racial injustice--from her own experiences at Wake Forest University and instances of police brutality in the United States--as a major theme.
