Lydia Theodora Benzien (1801-1864) was the daughter of Christian Ludwig Benzien and Dorothea Boettcher Benzien. She was a talented artist who created sentimental works of art from hair and in watercolors. Not wanting to marry a man that the Moravian Church approved for her, Lydia remained single her entire life.
