Abstract
Description
A man addresses the Baptist Convention of North Carolina and facilitates the election of officers. Officers are nominated and a few words is spoken about each nominee. Elections are held and all offices for the next year's convention are elected. Charles Bates, pastor of First Baptist Church of Charlotte, is elected President. Bates is the rare person to be elected President of two state conventions, including Texas, and later president of the Southern Baptist Convention. A resolution regarding alcohol consumption is proposed as well as a proposal encouraging the state to work to prevent veneral disease. They are referred to the resolutions committee. It is announced that during the session that the astronauts on the NASA Gemini XII mission has splashed down safely.
