| dc.description | The Bowman Gray School of Medicine developed a new program of physical medicine and rehabilitation thanks to an endowment fund of approximately one million dollars established in memory of the late Mr. R. Gardner Kellogg in 1962 by his wife. The late R. Gardner Kellogg was a member of a distinguished family, noted for civic business leadership in Wisconsin. His father happened to be the founder of the Kellogg Bank of Green Bay Wisconsin. The endowment fund along with the cooperation of North Carolina Baptist Hospital and Goodwill Industries provided Winston-Salem at the time with one of the leading programs in physical medicine and rehabilitation. This 1997 photo shows that the program is still vital to the area by the "re-unveiling" of Mr. Kellogg's portrait at the J. Paul Sticht Center where the endowment fund now supports physical medicine and rehabilitation. In 1997 (L-R) Dr. Jim Thompson, vice president and dean of Bowman Gray School of Medicine ; Jack Kellogg (son of R.Gardner Kellogg); Dr. Richard Janeway, professor of neurology; and Dr. Manson Meads, executive dean at the time of the endowment fund establishment. | en_US |
