Helen Gentry, North Carolina Baptist Hospital School of Nursing 1933 graduate, sits with an unknown patient. Miss Gentry was 18 in this 1930 photograph. She is wearing the nursing school’s first uniform of a white gored apron with a blue top. Students were required to wear black shoes and black hose for their first two years of training.
