Description
This photo shows former Winston Cup racing star, Bobby Allison signing autographs on September 27, 1993 inside of Babcock auditorium during his visit to the Medical Center. "Because of what I've been through and what I've seen, if I can help increase support for and promote biomedical research in any wayI will," said Bobby Allison. Allison, who survived a near-fatal head injury from a 1988 crash at Pocono International Raceway in Pennsylvania, helped with the Triad area "Kickoff of the Research..North Carolina" campaign. This campaign was an intense two-week effort to increase public awareness and support of medical research after the NIH (National Institute of Health) grants had been forced to be scaled back.
