<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract" lang="en_US">The x-ray CT is with high spatial resolution, temporal resolutions, and high-speed imaging characteristic. The iterative reconstruction algorithms are becoming more important since they can reconstruct better image qualities from incomplete projection data compared to analytical reconstruction algorithms. Iterative reconstruction algorithms also allow more flexible trajectories. However, the high computational cost prevents them from wide applications in clinics. Therefore, it is necessary to develop software and hardware methods to accelerate the iterative reconstruction algorithms. The main methods to accelerate iterative reconstruction algorithms can be either expedite the convergence rate of the algorithm mathematically or directly accelerating the most time-consuming projection / backprojection procedures.</dim:field>
