HB2, or the bathroom predator bill as it was referred to in the media, had four parts. This project focuses on part 1, which mandated that all persons use the bathroom that corresponded with the sex that appears on their birth certificate. This bill was a response to a Charlotte Ordinance that created legal protections for individuals to use the restroom that best matched their internal gender identity, and not their physical anatomy when using public restrooms.
