Abstract

Description

All of the buildings at the corner of Lockland Avenue and Hawthorne Road were torn down in order to realign the locally famous "Hawthorne Curve". This curve on I-40 was located within a few hundred yards of both the North Carolina Baptist Hospital and the Bowman Gray School of Medicine. The construction began in the late 1990s and was finished and open for traffic in 2000. Buildings from (L to R) are Bobbitt's College Pharmacy, Bobbitt's Medical Supply, Jack Kings Gym, and the Rose n' Thistle Restaurant.
