Abstract

Description

The Single Brothers' House on Main Street in Salem seen from the northeast on Academy Street. A woman stands in the doorway and two young boys are in the foreground with bicycles. The Single Brothers' House was built in 1769 with an addition in 1786. The building housed the single men of the Moravian community as well as trade shops and space for worship and business management. It was restored in 1964 to its 1785 appearance and is now an exhibit building for Old Salem Museums & Gardens.
