Abstract

Description

Photograph shows the tin shop of Julius E. Mickey. Julius and his brother Samuel made the large coffeepot (one of Winston-Salem's best-known landmarks) as a sign for the tin shop in 1858. About 1960, the shop was claimed by Interstate 40 (now Business 40) and the coffeepot was moved to its current location at the intersection of Main Street and Old Salem Road.
