dc.description.abstract Smith was a graduate of Wake Forest College (Class of 1882) and member of the Euzelian Literary Society, and was a merchant in Timmonsville, South Carolina. He later served as Lt. Governor of South Carolina, President of the Baptist State Convention of South Carolina, and Vice President of the Southern Baptist Convention.His papers consist of biographical information and a photograph of Smith; an autograph book containing statements from Wake Forest classmates and faculty; an alumni card signed by Dr. William Louis Poteat; a photograph of the Class of 1892 (Wake Forest College); and clippings about Smith, his portrait being presented to the college, and a newspaper photograph. en_US
