description
Session begins with a report from the Christian Life Committee, concerning the Church in the world, race and class stratification, and domestic and international politics. Sensitivity to racial equity in the church is encouraged as Galations 3:28 is referenced. The Ku Klux Klan is denounced partly because they use the cross as a symbol of hate . Involvement in local political life is encouraged. World peace should always be the goal of the nation and United Nations. "White and negro" is voted to be replaced by "All citizens" to include other races after being challenged by Reverend Roger Jackson of First Baptist Church of Yadkinville. The Christian Action League addresses alcohol addiction, represented by local liquor sales votes. The Public Affairs committee addresses discrepancies. Changes in the Catholic church are noted. Finally, an accounting of laws allowing public funds to be used for Baptist colleges is reported.
