President's Address
Abstract
Description
Concluding address by President Tom Freeman regarding the challenge to the North Carolina Baptists in the 1970s. It is compared to the children of Israel claiming the Promised Land - "Start acting like a great people; stop complaining and start performing." 15 churches out of over 3,000 in the state convention differ on mode of baptism, calling for charity on part of the convention and yielding of rights for sake of unity by minority churches with open membership policies. A non-binding resolution is proposed stating a belief in baptism by immersion rather than a constitutional amendment.
