Lecture by Dr. Ed Wilson: William B. Yeats: Yeats biography
Abstract
Description
The recording begins with Wilson discussing his absence due to James Ralph Scales' memorial service. Then he moves into wrapping up the history of Ireland, including religious issues and similarities with Scotland as depicted in the movie "Braveheart." Wilson then moves to a biography of Yeats, important places throughout Ireland and important people in his life, as well as politics and Irish rebellions. He compares Yeats and Faulkner as writers examining cultural problems in different geographies. There are frequent points of coughs, seat sounds, and other background noises throughout and at time Wilson's voice fades, as if he is too far away from the recorder. The recording ends mid-sentence.
